Run a Kinship Support Group in your area
Volunteering for Kinship Carers is a great way to support and meet other Kinship friend and family carers in your area. It can also be very rewarding also it is a good way to make new friends, as well as learning new skills and gaining valuable work experience.
Why become a Kinship Volunteer?
As a Support Group Leader you will have the scope to shape an annual programme that focuses on the needs of kinship carers in your group.

Some of our groups are run by individuals, some by two or more active members.
In return we offer specialist, role-focused training for you to help you to manage all aspects of the role, full and on-going support to set up and run your group, a framework and resources to make it easier to operate.
Who are the support group leaders?
Our support group leaders are volunteers acting on behalf of Kinship Carers UK.

They are people with
Enthusiasm
Some time to spare and share
Have a general interest in others
An awareness of, and an interest in, developing their knowledge of kinship care and related issues
What do they do?
Our volunteers offer encouragement and support to people raising other people’s children such as kinship carers, prospective kinship carers, private arrangement carers and approved fostering kinship carers.

Through group meetings and family get-together, they provide the opportunity for kinship carers whatever the title to get to know each other in their local communities. These opportunities to meet up and share experiences are invaluable to our members.
